    • Boost your readership
    • Jump into the top 10% with agents and editors
    • Strategize for embarking on self publication
    • Quadruple your odds of selling your book before you write it

Learn to toss off your writer’s hat and look at your book like agents, editors, & readers do.

WHAT WE'LL DO:  Thursday evening we'll gather for wine, cheese, and a casual dinner poolside to discuss your book in broad strokes, explore book structures, and have a freewheeling discussion of your book in publishing today.   All of Friday morning we'll dig into unique details of your book and expand it, lunch will be catered in, then you're on your own for the rest of the afternoon - writing, working on what you learned in the morning, swimming, or discovering the joys of Vero Beach: the beach, museums, bookstores. In the evening we’ll go out to a colorful local restaurant for a fun dinner, discussing your book, writing, and marketing over fine food. All of Saturday morning, we’ll explore what you’ve accomplished thus far, dig deeper and set new goals, and with lunch catered in, you’ll have another afternoon to work diligently or explore before going out for a fabulous oceanside dinner and more writing and workshop conversation. Together, we'll shape your book on Sunday over a lovely brunch, developing your own personalized plan to complete your project once back at home.

Discover how to show off your book from a bawdy Southern broad who’s been on all sides of the editorial desk. She feels your pain; she’s a writer just like you.  Cricket began her writing and publishing career in the 1980s on an Olympia typewriter and was dubbed a damn-fine writer by a drunken bestselling author who happened to grace her guestroom one summer. She plucked ahead over the years through computers, email, websites, and e-publishing, adding titles as she piled on credits:

  • Freelance writer - magazines, politicians, & businesses
  • Editor-in-chief - national full-color slick magazine
  • Ghostwriter, editor, book & cover designer, photographer, book producer - small publishers
  • Speaker & writing instructor - writers conferences & schools
  • Literary agent - The August Agency
  • Publisher - August Words Publishing
  • Host & instructor - August Words House, tropical writing retreat
